MODULE 3 - Media Backwatch Principles - An operational awareness course introducing the role of media backwatch support for journalists and expeditionary teams operating in high-risk environments.
About This Course
S.E.N.T.I.N.E.L Level 2 – Media Backwatch Principles introduces the role of backwatch support for journalists and expeditionary teams operating in complex and high-risk environments. Media backwatch is the process of maintaining situational awareness, monitoring threats and supporting teams remotely while they operate in potentially hostile environments. This course introduces participants to the principles of monitoring operational environments, maintaining communication awareness and supporting deployed teams through structured situational awareness. Participants will explore how backwatch functions support journalists, documentary teams, NGOs and expeditionary organisations working in austere environments. The training focuses on awareness, coordination and information monitoring rather than operational command or tactical control. Completion of this module contributes toward S.E.N.T.I.N.E.L Level 2 Applied Operational Modules and supports progression toward Tier 1 and Tier 2 Advisor recognition.
