About This Course

Learn advanced control, restraint and handcuffing techniques from instructors with real-life experience from the Police, Military Police and wider HM Armed Forces. Includes the Level 3 Award in Safe Use of Mechanical Restraints (Handcuffing) (RQF). The broad curriculum covers law and legislation through to safe handcuffing of both compliant and non-compliant subjects. Delivered over 3 days of classroom theory and practical training in AEC's state-of-the-art physical intervention dojo.

What You'll Learn

Law and legislation around the use of mechanical restraints

Applying handcuffs to a compliant subject (front/rear stack, rear back-to-back)

Fundamentals of handcuffing, subject control and takedowns

Controlling a subject on the ground

Scenario-based assessments of all techniques taught

Prerequisites

•Must evidence prior completion of an approved 'Application of Physical Intervention Skills' unit — via a current valid SIA Door Supervision or Close Protection licence, or an original course certificate
•Must hold a verified & accredited Level 3 EFAW (or equivalent) first-aid qualification with at least 12 months remaining until expiry
