Qualsafe Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3), delivered by Barham Protection Services at BPS HQ in Maidstone, Kent. Five days, hands-on, and the step towards FREC 4.
Overview
About This Course
FREC 3 is the Qualsafe Level 3 qualification in First Response Emergency Care: a five-day, hands-on course covering the competencies in the PHEM skills framework at level D, the bedrock of medical skills in the private sector. It gives you practical skills for a wide range of prehospital emergencies and is the step towards FREC 4. The course was relaunched in June 2025 with new content, streamlined assessments and more scenario-based assessment, including realistic final scenarios with live actors and special effects. Who it's for: event medical cover, door supervisors, close protection operatives and security guards, people working in high-risk environments (military, power stations, offshore renewables, agriculture, manufacturing), anyone starting a career in prehospital care, and first responders in the police, fire, emergency medical and search and rescue services. Dates: Monday 18 to Friday 22 January 2027, and Monday 1 to Friday 5 March 2027. Groups of 3 to 12 learners. You must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the training. Venue: BPS HQ, Unit 10, The Old Brewery, Buckland Road, Maidstone, Kent, ME16 0DZ. Free parking on site, and a short walk from Maidstone West station. A Premier Inn and a Travelodge are a minute's walk away (accommodation is not included). Successful learners receive a personalised Qualsafe e-certificate. The qualification is regulated and nationally recognised. It is not a licence to practise: interventions must follow your own or your organisation's scope of practice. This course is delivered by Barham Protection Services. The Ops Con lists it and takes bookings on their behalf.
