Overview

FREC 4 is the Qualsafe Level 4 qualification in First Response Emergency Care: a regulated, nationally recognised prehospital care qualification for people progressing in NHS or independent ambulance services, or in specialist roles in the military, police and fire services. It builds intermediate prehospital knowledge and skills and meets descriptor level E of the PHEM skills framework. Who it's for: people who provide prehospital care at work or in voluntary roles, emergency care providers in healthcare settings, people moving into roles such as emergency care assistant, intermediate ambulance practitioner or event medical provider, and specialist medical staff in the military, police and fire services. Dates: Monday 9 to Friday 13 November 2026. Groups of 3 to 12 learners. Assessment: three practical assessments, two skills tests, two invigilated exams and three learner workbooks. The workbooks must be completed within a year of the course ending. Venue: BPS HQ, Unit 10, The Old Brewery, Buckland Road, Maidstone, Kent, ME16 0DZ. Free parking on site, and a short walk from Maidstone West station. A Premier Inn and a Travelodge are a minute's walk away (accommodation is not included). You receive a personalised Qualsafe Level 4 e-certificate once the course is complete and all three workbooks have been submitted and marked. The qualification is not a licence to practise. This course is delivered by Barham Protection Services. The Ops Con lists it and takes bookings on their behalf.
