What You'll Learn
Patient assessment: Primary and secondary surveys, patient observation, and casualty monitoring
Airway and breathing management: Clearing and maintaining an airway, basic life support (BLS), and using advanced airway adjuncts
Basic life support (BLS): CPR for adults and children, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
Trauma and injury management
Medical emergencies: Recognition and management of conditions like asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures, heart attack, and diabetes.
Emergency oxygen: Safe administration and use of emergency oxygen therapy.
Major incidents: Triage, managing multiple casualties, and handling scene safety.
Professionalism: Understanding the role of a first responder, incident reporting, and handover procedures to emergency services.
Specific situations: Management of environmental exposures like hypothermia and hyperthermia, and dealing with poisoning.

This course will be taught over a 5 day period.

Prerequisites
- •Please note that delegates MUST be at least 17 years old to participate and perform practical tasks at floor level.
- •There are no formal entry requirements to attend this course however, we recommend that learners have a minimum of Level 2 literacy or equivalent and a basic understanding of first aid.
- •Appropriate footwear and clothing are recommended for this course, e.g. trousers and flat footwear
