London Close Protection Skills and Familiarisation Day
The Ops Con
The London Close Protection Skills and Familiarisation Day is a practical, immersive introduction to real-world close protection operations in a central London environment led by an ex–Tier 1 American Special Forces operator and a UK Army Veteran with a combined 20+ years of CP experience.
About This Course
This one-day programme is specifically aimed at those considering a career in close protection who want a realistic understanding of what the job entails, newly qualified operatives seeking to increase their confidence and gain real-world experience, and individuals who have not previously worked in central London but are keen to pursue roles within the city. Delegates join a functioning protection team, beginning at The Ops Con HQ at Battersea Power Station, before participating in a structured operational briefing covering risks, threats, itineraries, venues, embus, debus, communication protocols and planning considerations. Working with three vehicles common to close protection tasks – the Mercedes S-Class, V-Class and Range Rover – participants will familiarise themselves with luxury vehicle procedures, seating positions, protective movement and team coordination. Delegates will not drive the vehicles but will operate as part of a professional team led by highly experienced security drivers with more than ten years of experience supporting UHNWI and high-profile clients. The day includes practical movement around central London, visiting client hotspots, identifying entrances and exits, pinch points, risk areas and environmental challenges. Participants will have the opportunity to act as the PPO, gaining confidence in the role and receiving personalised developmental feedback from the instructors. Upon completion, delegates will receive a formal performance report suitable for sharing with prospective employers.
