CMA invites comment on Peoplesafe's planned acquisition of SoloProtect, before any formal investigation
Ops Con Intelligence

On Thursday 29 October the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published a merger inquiry page, Peoplesafe / SoloProtect. It is seeking views on the anticipated acquisition by Send for Help Limited and Peoplesafe Inc. of SoloProtect Limited.

What the CMA has published

The invitation to comment runs from 29 October to 12 November 2026. The CMA says it has not yet launched its formal investigation into the transaction, and that it has received the information it needs from the parties to begin pre-notification. The review falls under Part 3 of the Enterprise Act 2002, and comments go to the case mailbox listed on the CMA page.

Who the companies are

The CMA page does not describe either firm. On its own website, Peoplesafe describes itself as a provider of technology-enabled employee safety products for employers, including personal safety devices, safety apps, emergency alert systems, and body-worn and vehicle cameras. SoloProtect's website says it sells wearable safety devices and a smartphone app for lone worker protection.

What is not in the record

The CMA page gives no deal value, no market shares, and no indication of what, if anything, concerns it. The CMA describes the invitation to comment as the first part of its information-gathering process: no decision has been made and no formal investigation has started. We found no CMA press release.

Why it matters to security firms

This is Ops Con's reading, not the CMA's.

Lone worker alarms, monitoring and body-worn cameras sit next to the security industry, and SoloProtect lists retail among the sectors it serves; guarding and facilities firms that equip lone staff are likely buyers too. If the businesses combine, customers of either may see changes to contracts, devices or monitoring over time, so it is worth knowing who your supplier is and what your contract says about a change of ownership. Anyone with a view on how the deal would affect choice or price can send it to the CMA by 12 November.
