Two threads lead today, and they pull in opposite directions.
Jordan is the good news. The FCDO has lifted its advise-against-all-but-essential note on Aqaba international airport and seaport after a security review, reopening the Red Sea gateway as a normal-advice route. The warning against travel within 3km of the Syrian border stays in place, so the change is narrow, but it is a genuine easing.
Bolivia is the caution. The country remains under a state of emergency that lets police and the armed forces clear roadblocks, break up protests and detain non-compliant people for up to eight hours without charge, with the Chapare region under an advise-against-all-but-essential note. Any ground movement there needs slack in the plan and a hard rule against crossing roadblocks.
