Gulf shipping

UKMTO's incident log records a tanker struck by an unknown projectile 11 nautical miles west of Bukha, Oman, on 21 October, and a tanker struck 30 nautical miles southeast of Al Faw, Iraq, on 20 October. Earlier entries this month report vessels struck off the UAE and Saudi Arabia and within the Strait of Hormuz. No entry names an attacker. The UN Spokesman said on 22 October that "no commercial ships should be attacked".

SIA figures

The SIA's October data sets, drawn as at 1 October, show 446,600 licence holders, down from 458,567 a year earlier. Close protection licences stand at 11,809, up from 11,535 a year earlier, and 22 businesses hold Approved Contractor approval for close protection.

Serbia

The FCDO added information on 22 October about Serbia's parliamentary elections on Sunday 25 October. It says political demonstrations and large gatherings are taking place in Belgrade and other towns and cities in the run-up to the elections, and may also take place on election day and in the days after. They can be organised at short notice and cause significant disruption, including to public transport and mobile phone networks.

France

The FCDO updated its France advice on demonstrations on 22 October, after an update on local curfews on 19 October. It says there is an increased likelihood of demonstrations, political gatherings and marches across France, sometimes at short notice, that most are peaceful but may disrupt transport, and that the authorities may impose partial and localised curfews.

Sudan

The UN said on 22 October that an air strike in Tina locality, North Darfur, on Tuesday 20 October reportedly killed five civilians, including two people working with the community-led Emergency Response Rooms. The UN did not say who carried out the strike.
