Three things worth an operator's attention today.

West Bank and Gaza. The UN Security Council was briefed on 26 August on a week of escalating violence in the West Bank, where Israeli operations injured more than 50 Palestinians, 25 Palestinian-owned structures were demolished and 38 settler attacks were reported. In Gaza the ceasefire remains fragile, most residents are still displaced, and 90 per cent faced moderate-to-high water insecurity as of July. Treat settlement-adjacent roads and checkpoint approaches in the West Bank as high exposure and confirm current FCDO advice at planning stage.

Sudan. The International Organization for Migration reported on 19 August that around 200,000 people have been newly displaced across the Kordofan region since late 2025. The UN humanitarian office has reported renewed Rapid Support Forces drone attacks on El Obeid and about 15,000 families displaced into the city over three weeks. Sudan remains under an FCDO advise-against-all-travel warning, and overland movement around Kordofan and Darfur carries acute exposure.

UK threat level. The national terrorism threat to the UK remains at severe, meaning an attack is highly likely, and the threat to Northern Ireland from Northern Ireland-related terrorism stands at substantial. No change has been announced. This is standing posture rather than a new alert, but it is the baseline every UK detail plans against.
