Two threads lead the board this morning, both in the Middle East.
In Lebanon, the FCDO holds a wide advise-against line, reviewed on 10 August. The South and Nabatiyeh Governorates, the southern suburbs of Beirut and all twelve Palestinian refugee camps are all-travel exclusions. A conditional ceasefire agreed on 17 April is not holding on the ground: UNIFIL logged 125 air violations in a single weekend, and national authorities put the toll since 2 March above 4,300 killed. Shelter-in-place readiness is the working assumption for anyone staying.
In Iraq, the FCDO keeps the Kurdistan Region on the all-but-essential list after a run of Iranian strikes since 8 July, alongside a standing high threat of kidnapping and terrorist attack. The Arba'een pilgrimage adds crowds and road closures across August and September.
The working details for both are in today's threat-risk posts.
