Today's picture for operators is set by two hostile-area developments.

Lebanon is the priority watch. UN News reported on 20 August that UN peacekeepers had counted, over just three days this week, 86 airspace violations, nine airstrikes and 265 projectiles, plus nearly thirty drones over the south. Their own patrols were delayed, rerouted or turned back on seven occasions, and infrastructure destruction continued. The south, the border belt and the Beqaa remain a hard FCDO exclusion, and the ceasefire is not holding on the ground. Treat any movement window near the south as perishable.

In Ukraine, a shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih was struck twice about half an hour apart on Friday 21 August, with the second strike catching first responders already at the scene. The UN reported at least fourteen killed and more than a hundred injured, including children. The takeaway for teams is the second strike: hold a cordon and a staging point back from any impact, keep an alternate extraction route, and never commit everyone to a scene at once. The same caution applies to retail and transport hubs anywhere in the country, which the FCDO warns are exposed nationwide.
