Chad

The FCDO reissued its Chad travel advice on 4 November after a full review. It advises against all travel to the northern provinces, western Kanem, the Lake Chad region and within 30km of Chad's other borders, and against all but essential travel to the rest of Chad, including N'Djamena. It says "There is a high risk of terrorist kidnapping in the Lake Chad Basin and the border areas with Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger." The page also says that in October 2026 Chad accused the CAR military of an attack against suspected rebels that infringed Chadian territory in Tissi, where the CAR, Chad and Sudan borders meet, with a number of people injured. The change note does not say the advice level has changed, and we have not treated any part of the text as new.

South Africa

The FCDO added information on 4 November about South Africa's local government elections, in the Warnings and insurance section. The page says the elections were scheduled for 4 November. The page says "There may be an increase in political activity, including rallies and demonstrations, around the election period." It does not report results or any incident.

Moldova

The FCDO reissued its Moldova advice on 4 November after a review with changes made throughout. The safety page says drone incursions into Moldovan airspace have occurred since Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine, and that debris from drones and missiles linked to the war has fallen in Moldova. Its guidance is: "If you encounter debris, do not approach it and follow the directions of local authorities." The page does not give dates for any incursion, and we cannot say which paragraphs are new.

Gaza

UN News reported on 4 November that the UN humanitarian office says gunfire hit and damaged several tents at a displacement site in northern Rafah on Tuesday 3 November, reportedly with injuries, and that a humanitarian partner had to leave the area. It also reports small arms fire near a UN-contracted facility in Deir al Balah and near a UN-organised convoy in Rafah, with no injuries to UN staff or damage reported. The Secretary-General's spokesperson said civilians, including humanitarian workers, must always be protected. The report does not say who fired or how many people were hurt.
