Nepal: The FCDO is running a Family Assistance Centre at the British Embassy in Kathmandu and moved in-person support to appointment-only from 7 September, following major flooding on 26 August in Rasuwa district and the Nepal-China border area that severely damaged roads, transport and communications infrastructure. Authorities have warned of further flooding.
Ebola, regional: The FCDO updated its Rwanda and Mauritius advice on 4 September. Rwanda has introduced health screening at Kigali International Airport and border restrictions with the Democratic Republic of the Congo in response to a WHO-declared Ebola outbreak centred on the DRC and Uganda. Measures may change quickly.
Syria, chemical weapons: The UN disarmament chief told the Security Council on 3 September that the OPCW has verified the destruction of 42 aerial bombs declared by Syria, the first time since 2014 that the watchdog has confirmed the destruction of Syrian chemical munitions.
Indonesia: Soekarno-Hatta and Halim airports in Jakarta were temporarily closed on 5 September due to volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau. Both have reopened, but the FCDO reports continued flight disruption with many flights cancelled or delayed.
United Kingdom threat level: The threat to the UK from terrorism remains SEVERE, meaning an attack is highly likely. The threat to Northern Ireland from Northern Ireland-related terrorism is SUBSTANTIAL, meaning an attack is likely.
