Sudan

An aerial attack on 3 October hit two clearly marked WFP trucks travelling from Dilling to Kadugli in South Kordofan and killed one driver, a day after another WFP truck struck an explosive device in Dilling. OCHA says drone strikes in Kordofan continue to kill and injure civilians and disrupt aid operations. The FCDO advises against all travel to Sudan. Full story in today's lead.

Afghanistan

The ICC unsealed four arrest warrants on 5 October for alleged persecution on gender and political grounds by the Taliban, including two not previously made public, against Habibullah Agha and Neda Mohammad Nadim. FCDO advice says detention risk is especially high for anyone who has worked in the military. Full story in Threat and Risk.

Gaza

The UN said on 5 October that Israeli authorities had suspended the entry of cargo into Gaza that day and announced a similar suspension on Wednesday 7 October, citing security concerns linked to the commemoration of the events of 7 October 2023. Plan for further disruption to aid and cargo movement around the anniversary.

Lebanon

UN peacekeepers recorded 365 projectiles fired between Thursday and Sunday, up on the previous week, while airspace violations fell. On Saturday they reported approximately 50 abandoned jerrycans, believed to contain explosive material, in Ett Taibe to the Lebanese Armed Forces.
