DRC, Kinshasa: The FCDO has added a warning that protests are planned in Kinshasa on 15 September, related to political developments in the country. The wider posture holds, with advice against all travel to parts of the DRC, including the conflict-affected east, and against all but essential travel to other parts.

Counter-terrorism, United Nations: The Security Council is scheduled to hold a thematic counter-terrorism meeting on 11 September, which the Council President said would mark 25 years since the 2001 attacks on New York and renew momentum on counter-terrorism, including the impact of new technology. The September programme under the French presidency also carries the Syria chemical-weapons and Iran sanctions tracks.

United Kingdom threat level: The threat to the UK from terrorism remains SEVERE, meaning an attack is highly likely. The threat to Northern Ireland from Northern Ireland-related terrorism is SUBSTANTIAL, meaning an attack is likely.
