Ops Con Intelligence

West Bank. The FCDO advises against all travel to the Tulkarm, Jenin and Tubas governorates and against all but essential travel to the rest of the West Bank. On 11 August the UN Security Council was briefed that violence in the territory has reached a new high this year, with 76 Palestinians and 3 Israelis reported killed and about 3,800 Palestinians displaced, and it pointed to a large-scale operation in the Qalandia refugee camp between 5 and 7 August. Full write-up in Threat and Risk.

Yemen. In a 7 August press statement the UN Security Council condemned Houthi missile attacks against Saudi Arabia since 13 July and against commercial vessels since 22 July, along with unauthorized landings at two Yemeni airports, warning of threats to regional security and to navigational rights. The FCDO advises against all travel to the whole of Yemen and ties the period to strikes on Saudi territory and on Red Sea shipping. Full write-up in Threat and Risk.

UK threat level. The national threat from terrorism remains SEVERE, meaning an attack is highly likely. The Northern Ireland-related threat level in Northern Ireland stands at SUBSTANTIAL, meaning an attack is likely. Neither carries an expiry date and both can change without notice, so posture and vigilance should stay aligned to SEVERE.
