The Brief: Friday 7 August 2026
Ops Con Intelligence

Two international threads today, plus the UK backdrop.

South Lebanon. The UN's 6 August briefing carried UNIFIL figures showing the sharpest escalation in months: 113 projectiles fired by the IDF on 5 August, the highest daily figure since 21 June, with no Hizbullah launches detected, and 120 more by 16:00 on 6 August. Airspace violations and confirmed airstrikes are concentrated around Al Mansuri, where UNIFIL notes media reporting of two IDF soldiers killed, and around 30 families have been displaced to Tyre. Teams with movement or tasking in the south should treat it as sharply elevated. Full read in Threat and Risk.

Central African Republic. On 29 July the Security Council unanimously renewed the CAR sanctions regime, the arms embargo, travel bans and asset freezes, to 31 July 2027 under Resolution 2827. For firms with any operations, procurement or due-diligence exposure in the region it is a compliance marker: refresh screening and log the new dates. Full read in Regulation and Compliance.

The UK backdrop is unchanged. The threat from terrorism remains SEVERE, meaning an attack is highly likely, and the Northern Ireland-related threat remains SUBSTANTIAL, both set by JTAC and MI5. No new domestic alert today, but the international picture where operators work has stepped up.
