Two items for the desk today, plus the standing threat picture.
Regulation. The SIA's review of every licence-linked qualification is due to publish its final specifications this summer, with the new qualifications going live in spring 2027. Close protection content is explicitly in scope. Nothing changes on a current licence now, but anyone qualifying or requalifying from spring 2027 will sit the new specifications, so plan training pathways around that switch.
Threat and risk. The FCDO's Western Sahara advice, current at 29 June 2026, holds an advise-against-all-travel warning over the 40km strip north and west of the Berm, including Es Semara, and the territory south and east of the line. Cross-border rocket fire has occurred and cannot be ruled out. Treat the Berm as a live conflict boundary for any regional movement.
Threat level. The UK national threat level remains severe, meaning an attack is highly likely. Baseline posture and vigilance unchanged.
