Its 4 August update flags the presidential inauguration held on 7 August and the demonstrations around it, while the standing picture stays serious: kidnapping high and widespread, and British business travellers named among legitimate targets. SIA enforcement. The regulator's report, updated on 7 August, shows 52 investigations open at the end of July, 8 new cases opened and 10 closed, 13 written warnings, and six enforcement operations checking 64 premises from Leeds to Newport, Glasgow and Croydon. UK threat level. The national threat from terrorism remains SEVERE, meaning an attack is highly likely. The Northern Ireland-related threat level in Northern Ireland stands at SUBSTANTIAL. Neither has an expiry date and both can change without notice, so posture and vigilance should stay aligned to SEVERE.
