**Qualifications.** The SIA has terminated the British Institute of Innkeeping Awarding Body's recognition for licence-linked qualifications, on grounds of serious and persistent material breaches uncovered by Operation RESOLUTE inspections. New learner registrations stopped immediately. All new licence-linked qualification issuing stops on 10 August 2026. If you have people mid-course, the awarding organisation on the certificate matters more than the provider on the invoice.

**Red Sea.** Resolution 2826 (2026), adopted 14 July, extends the Secretary-General's monthly reporting on Houthi attacks against commercial shipping through 15 January 2027. The vote was 13 to nil, with China and Russia abstaining, one day before the previous mandate expired.

**The quiet picture.** The Secretary-General's June report records no new incidents between 9 May and 9 June. The most recent confirmed attacks in the Council's own forecast are from 2025.

**A note on sourcing.** Secondary coverage this week has described fresh tanker attacks and a run of piracy incidents in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. We could not reconcile those claims with the UN reporting chain and could not verify them against a primary source, so they are not in this edition. Where our picture is thin, we would rather say so than fill it in.
