Libya: The UN Security Council has welcomed an agreement signed by Libyan parties on 30 August on the reconstitution of the elections commission and the electoral framework, and called for parliamentary and presidential elections within two years. The FCDO posture, last updated in July, is unchanged, with advice against all but essential travel to Tripoli, Benghazi, Al-Bayda and Derna and against all travel to the rest of the country.
SIA enforcement: New SIA data shows 24,969 security licences revoked since January 2022, of which 22,526, about 90 percent, were pulled for having no right to work in the UK. Right-to-work revocations have risen year on year and are now by far the leading reason a licence is withdrawn.
Week ahead and UK threat level: At the UN, the September programme includes the renewal of the Sudan sanctions regime under resolution 1591 and the mandate of the Gang Suppression Force in Haiti, both expected this month. The threat to the UK from terrorism remains SEVERE, meaning an attack is highly likely, and the threat to Northern Ireland from Northern Ireland-related terrorism is SUBSTANTIAL, meaning an attack is likely.
