Two items on the desk this morning, one escalation and one de-escalation.
**Pakistan.** The UN Security Council issued a press statement on Tuesday 22 September on the suicide bombing of a mosque in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Friday 18 September. At least 24 people were killed, 17 of them law enforcement personnel, and at least 88 injured. A group with affiliates linked to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility. On the same day the FCDO added a warning that protests and marches are planned in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and other cities, with a history of road closures, movement restrictions and suspended mobile and internet services. Note the split: Peshawar and Kohat sit inside the advise against all travel area, while Islamabad and Rawalpindi do not.
**Trinidad and Tobago.** The FCDO removed the state of emergency section from its travel advice on Monday 21 September. The emergency was proclaimed on 2 March 2026 and extended twice by the House, in March and again in June. No revocation motion appears on the September parliamentary record, so we are not putting a date or a mechanism on its ending. The House took up The Special Operations Bill, 2026 on Friday 18 September and sits again today.
**Carried but not run.** The FCDO also revised its Bolivia state of emergency text on Tuesday. We covered Bolivia's state of emergency on 4 September, and the department's note marks this as updated rather than new information, so there is no way from here to show what actually changed. We are holding it rather than republishing a story we have already told.
